3 fully vaccinated people catch Cov-19 Corvavirus, says Hawaii DOH

Nothing in life is perfect, except avocado toast. While the Covid-19 vaccines may protect against Covid-19, the protection is not perfect. Even after you have been vaccinated, you can still catch the virus. You can still get Covid-19.

Case in point. Or instead of three cases to some extent. According to the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH), three people in Hawaii who received both doses of Moderna or the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus. In addition, the fourth person who received the first of two doses of the vaccine ended up catching the B.1.1.7 version of the acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV2). That is a more contagious version of SARS-CoV2.

The following KHON2 A press release further described what had happened:

Don’t press the panic button just because you saw this news though. It is generally a bad idea to push a button called “Panic”. Moreover, three who catch the Covid-19 coronavirus does not mean that the Covid-19 vaccines will not work. Getting vaccinated does not mean that a large concrete condom is six feet thick around your body. The vaccine is not a strong 100% effective barrier to the virus. Even though the vaccines may be very effective in preventing more severe Covid-19, you still have a chance to get Covid-19 after you have been vaccinated. And there’s still a chance that this Covid-19 can be tough. It’s just that your chances after vaccination could be much lower.

In the end, those aren’t three people. It’s not even enough to create a bobsled team of four. And very few people have been vaccinated so far. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Covid-19 vaccine detector, more than 35 million people have received both doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech or Moderna Covid-19 vaccines. And the following tweet from the Hawaii State Assembly showed how many in Hawaii received the vaccine in total:

With the virus spreading across the country, you would expect at least a few cases of people developing Covid-19 despite being fully vaccinated.

Therefore, some cases like this should not stop you from getting vaccinated. Would you avoid wearing pants just because someone somewhere on his pants accidentally fell down? Would you ever go without pants just because you fear your pants might fall down, leaving you without pants? That wouldn’t make any sense. Wearing pants usually offers more protection than not wearing anything at all. Similarly, the vaccine will give you better protection against Covid-19 than not getting the vaccine.

Also, just because you get the virus after you have been fully vaccinated does not mean that the vaccine has not helped you. You never know how serious the infection can be without the vaccine, unless you are somehow on time travel. And it may not be possible to travel time, or someone from the future would have returned and told us how to make better dental floss.

All of this is a reminder that you should still keep another warning no matter if you have already received the Covid-19 vaccine. So keep up the social pace and wear a face mask. Think of all the defensive and defensive measures as a slice of Swiss cheese. Not that you should start putting face masks in your ham sandwiches but because each dimension has its own holes in different configurations. Holes are not good whether it is underwear or protection against Covid-19 coronavirus. Therefore, lying on different steps at the same time can help cover the holes on each “slice. ”

Moreover, the USA is still in the “danger zone” in the words of Kenny Loggins’ song for the film High gun. The transmission of the virus is still relatively high. It’s not quite Spring yet, so the weather is still warm and humid enough to work in our favor. In addition, more infectious variations of the virus appear to be spreading. So the next few weeks could be the difference between getting and not getting another boost of Covid-19 cases. It would be too early to rest.

So keep this latest news from Hawaii in good view. A few cases of Covid-19 among fully vaccinated people are not really the Hawaiian punch but it is actually something to look forward to.
