The PGA Tour 2020-21 season continues with the first full-range event of the new year this week. The 2021 Sony Open is the second and final week of the Hawaii swing and will be attended by over 140 players at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii. Starting last week’s win at the Sentry Champions Tournament, Harris English is listed at 16-1 in the latest 2021 Sony Open odds from William Hill Sportsbook.
Webb Simpson finished third at the Sony Open last season and is sixth in the official World Golf Course and is a 14-1 teammate with Collin Morikawa in the latest PGA Tour odds . Contenders also include Daniel Berger (20-1), Sungjae Im (22-1), Hideki Matsuyama (22-1) and defensive champion Cameron Smith (28-1). Forecast 2021 favorite Sony Open
One big shock the model wants at the Sony Open 2021: Collin Morikawa, one of 14-1 favorites, barely breaks the top five. Morikawa was one of the hottest players on tour last season, reaching the run by winning the 2020 PGA Championship in August. He finished an honorable T-7 last week at the Champions Sentry Championship, but failed to break the top-40 in four of his last six PGA Tour finals.
Morikawa’s inconsistent performance can be attributed directly to how he put it. The 23-year-old entered this week’s event at 231st total putting (371.4), 220th in strokes received: putting (-.753) and 125th overall to adding an average (1.619), which does not bother well for his chances of finishing at the top of the board this week. It’s not a solid choice to win it all and there are far better values in the Sony Open 2021 range.
One more surprise: Sergio Garcia, a huge 40-1 long bullet, is running strong at the title. He has a far better chance of winning it all than his odds mean, so he’s on one of the 2021 Sony Open picks you should be all over. The 2017 Masters champion and winner of the 11-time PGA Tour is currently at 45th in the official World Golf Course, but has been playing for quite some time.
Garcia won the Sanderson Farms Championship in October and had a tough showing last week at Kapalua with a T-11 finish at the Sentry Champions Tournament. Garcia will be making his Sony Open debut since 2003, but has made the cut twice that he has played the event and has been driving the ball in particular (fourth) in acquired strokes: far-an-tee). That should be a big win this week at Waialae Country Club, which is much tighter and flatter than last week at Kapalua.
