Following MK Sharan Hashekel’s announcement this morning (Wednesday) that she intends to resign from the Knesset, resign from the Likud and join the “New Hope” party led by Gideon Saar, whoever is supposed to enter the Knesset in its place is next in line on the Likud list, former Minister Ayoub Kara.

However, it is not at all certain that this will happen. Saar told Maariv that he would “hold consultations” on whether to enter the Knesset, since for that purpose he would have to give up his status as an adviser to one of the princes in the Emirates.
Kara served for nearly 20 years, almost continuously, as a Likud MK, and in 2017-2019 served as Minister of Communications. Since not being elected to the 21st Knesset, he has stood out in a number of controversial media statements.
