20 NASA’s Best Picture Astronauts in the Last Year

It has been a big year for the International Space Station (ISS) as it marks the twentieth consecutive year of continued human presence on board. The station has hosted 242 people and has been home to more than 3,000 science experiments – many captured on film by the astronauts who have called the station home.

This year, NASA is sharing some of the experiments and the daily life of the crew aboard the station through their own personal photos. The team augmented the highest number of seven contemporary longtime members which has resulted in a wide variety of images across everything from growing radishes in microgravity to heart-pounding research and even a few photos of Paris, Ottawa, and various other cities from above.

“The men and women who live and work on the International Space Station take thousands of pictures of their home planet each year, and we asked the people at the Earth Science and Consciousness Unit Remote at NASA’s Johnson Space Center for some of their favorites from 2020, ”the space agency said in a video release released to social media.

NASA also said that the crew aboard the space station this year have been both “videographers for and the subject of virtual production called ISS Experience,” which focuses on experience create cinematic significance based on the day-to-day life on board the station. In other words, they know a thing or two about capturing a good photo.

The full catalog of photographs taken by crew members in 2020, as well as key photographs dating back to 2016, are available for public viewing on NASA’s official website.
