Labconco reached a major milestone with their green campaign to plant a tree garden for all Fumered Hood Protectors Echo ordered. In partnership with the National Arbor Day Foundation, Labconco planted its 10,000th tree in February.
This program is very meaningful to us, the trees are the analogy for our seed hood. They turn polluted air in our natural environment into clean, breathable air. Echo Filtered Fume Hoods does the same for the lab, returning clean, safe air to the lab environment. ”
Fume Hood product specialist Kasey Fulmer
The hoods also reduce energy consumption. “That’s another way they’re environmentally friendly,” Fulmer said. “Many organizations are embracing Echo fume hoods to achieve their green enterprise goals and reduce the utility costs associated with maintaining a laboratory. In fact, these hoods are one of the basic building blocks of a zero energy laboratory. ZNE labs are designed to produce more energy than they consume. “
Labconco started planting trees in 2015 when they introduced the original design of the Echo and Airo Filtered Fume Hoods. The program is part of a wide range of green initiatives. Labconco seeks to use a high percentage of recycled materials in its products. They also design for energy efficiency and water conservation.
Fume hoods, for example, require 99% less energy to operate than traditional black hoods. As more laboratory designers have begun to realize the benefits in efficiency and smaller infrastructure requirements, Echo Fume Hoods have quickly become commonplace.
“The Arbor Day Foundation has been a great partner in this program,” continued Fulmer.
They identify forests that need additional planting or reforestation, and they plant the trees. We are thrilled to know that we have now supported 10,000 new trees and planted roots around the world. ”
That’s another perfect symbol for Labconco’s global footprint. Their fog cans are found on all seven continents, including Antarctica.
