The 21st round of the Premier League opened today (Saturday), when Manchester City established themselves at the top and widened the gap from second-placed Manchester United thanks to Sheffield 0-1. Newcastle also surprised Everton with 0: 2, Crescent Palace recorded 0: 1 over Wolves and Fulham surrendered 2: 1 to West Bromwich Albion.
Manchester City – Sheffield United 0: 1
After astonishing United with 1: 2, the latter in the table failed to do so even against its city rival among the edges in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s side, who climbed to the top last round, completed a 12-game winning streak and widened the gap to 4 points from the Red Devils (who after the late game between United and Arsenal dropped to 3) and are undoubtedly the hottest team in the league. United have yet to play, but now both teams have 20 games. The loser, for her part, is in trouble in last place. City really did not lick honey, but an early goal by Gabriel Jesus (9) was enough for her until the end.
Crystal Palace – Wolves 0: 1
The Wolves’ bad season continued with another loss failing to get out of the bottom area of the table, while the winner breathed some air in the center. After a zeroed first half, it was Aberchi Aza (60) who made the difference for the host.
Southampton – Aston Villa 1: 0
One moment of magic from Jack Grilish, who provided an assist to Ross Barkley in the 41st minute, is all Villa needed tonight to come back with three points from St. Mary’s, and recover from the disappointing loss to Burnley in the previous round. Southampton, on the other hand, have already had three consecutive losses since the win over Liverpool.
West Bromwich Albion – Fulham 2: 2
A battle for six points below the red line, which ended in a result that did not bode well with any of the teams that share 18th and 19th places and move away from a safe shore. The visitors took an early lead in the 11th minute from a Bobby Reid goal, but Kyle Bartley (48) and Matthews Pereira (66) completed a makeover and already touched on the important victory, however Ivan Cavalieri (77) set up a points distribution.
Everton – Newcastle 2: 0
a surprise. The visitors arrived in the worst shape in the league, and after 73 fairly even minutes in which they threatened no less than the opponent towards the goal, Callum Wilson managed to score the advantage for her. In the 93rd minute, Wilson closed an interest with a pair that gave 3 points in Goodison Park against Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
This is the second game in a row without a win in the league for the team from Liverpool and a second loss in the last 4 rounds, but Everton are still strong in the battle for a place in Europe next season. On the other hand, Newcastle rose to 22 points and managed at a good time to get away from the dangerous area a bit.
