1 gigabyte surfing: Bezeq launches a fiber optic network

Joins the revolution: Bezeq announced at a press conference this morning (Sunday) that it is operating its Internet infrastructure on fiber optics. First-time customers will be able to join the network starting tomorrow, with the company promising an extensive deployment – from north to south.

“This is one of the largest and most complex national projects in Israel to date. Bezeq has already invested hundreds of millions of shekels in the Persian Bfiber drink, “said Dudu Mizrahi, Bezeq’s CEO. “The entry of a company like Bezeq into the fiber market will lead to a revolution in the industry and by the end of the year 40% of households in Israel will be able to enjoy surfing at ultra-fast speeds.”

Meanwhile, the company announced that within a few weeks they will launch the fastest fiber package in Israel with a surfing rate of 2.5 gigabits, along with an upload rate of 250 megabits. “This is the beginning of a revolution,” said Gil Sharon, chairman of Bezeq, adding: “In a short time, Israel will overtake most of the countries in the world by connecting to the fiber network.”

The company did not disclose the cost of connecting to the fiber network at 2.5 Gbps, but noted that only customers with a suitable router – which will be sold separately – will be able to join. Bezeq stated that In the first year, the deployment will include 90 localities in most of the country, in the center and in the periphery, in saturated and ground-level construction.

The price of the first package, at a speed of 600 megabits (upload rate of 60 megabits) is NIS 109 per month, and 1 gigabit (upload rate of 100 megabits) at NIS 119. In addition to the cost of the infrastructure, the fiber package also involves an installation cost of NIS 12.5 per month, for 36 months.
