Pregnant woman crushing stomach with assailant placing pillow on top of street

Shomrim, the Stamford Hill neighborhood watch team, shared the video online and said there had been a “recent spike in attacks on single women” and especially young Jewish women.

The rise in incidents has been evident in recent weeks, according to Chaim Hochhauser, chief executive of Somer London, which works with police to reduce crime and help citizens feel safe. within the Jewish communities of the capital.

Describing the man as “extremely dangerous”, he said the woman and her unborn child had survived a “horrific unprepared attack”.

Rabbi Herschel Gluck, president of Stamford Hill Shomrim, said there have been a number of similar attacks against Jewish women in the area although it is not clear at this stage whether they are connected.

He said the attacker “took off her wig and hat, clearly as a sign of anti-Semitic attitude towards this woman.

“Jewish women and girls have a right to feel safe walking the streets at any time of the day or night.”

Rabbi Gluck said the Somrim was setting up patrols in the local area to ensure women and girls could walk the streets “with confidence and safety”.

Metropolitan Police appealed for witnesses to the attack, which took place on Manor Road shortly before 7pm last Thursday, and asked anyone with information to contact them.
