A researcher-led project at the University’s Ottawa Faculty of Science has awarded $ 9 million in Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funding to create a national network for better research and response to global risk there are COVID-19 differences.
Directed by Dr. Marc-Andre Langlois, Coronavirus Variants Rapid Response Network or CoVaRR-Net, allows a real-time assessment of both the immune response to the virus variants and whether these changes are resistant to the existing vaccines. The findings will guide decision-makers regarding drug treatment, vaccine efficacy, and other public health strategies.
CoVaRR-Net is poised to contribute to Canada’s effort to reduce the impact of harmful differences (VOCs) on Canadian citizens and the global population. This project includes a co-ordinated and rapid approach to real-time assessment of the potential risk of SARS-CoV-2 changes and will be a plan for future pandemics. come to protect the health of all Canadians. This network will serve as Canada’s unified platform for determining how VOCs affect Canadians from diverse communities and demographics and for monitoring the uptake of SARS-CoV-2 going around in real time. “
