Conan just brought out the beast in an Omega level mutant

As King in Black brings the Savage Avengers and X-Men together, Conan the Barbarian helps one of the strongest mutants to realize their true power.

WARNING: The following spoilers for Savage Avengers # 19 by Gerry Duggan, Kev Walker, Scott Hanna, Java Tartaglia and VC Travis Lanham, are on sale now.

While the Savage Avengers typically deal with threats like veteran Kulan Gath, the team must refocus their efforts on the symbiote attack that is taking over the Marvel Universe in the King in black crossover. While the Savage Avengers may have been scattered far and wide during Knull ‘s attack, they have all survived so far, largely as a result of the allies they found along the way.

While working with Deadpool and some X-Men in Savage Avengers # 19, Conan the Barbarian was just pushing Iceman, one of the all-powerful Omega-Level mutants, to disperse his inner Giant Frost.

TAKE: Savage Avengers: Deadpool has just tried to steal from Marvel’s richest Mutants

After escaping from prison, making a deal with a symbiote and attempting to steal the Hellfire Club mansion, Conan and his team found themselves looking down on Iceman, Bishop and Calisto. The three mutants hadn’t been looking for a fight, but Conan certainly gave them one after they broke Iceman to pieces with the cunning symbiote sword. The loss is awfully short-lived no doubt, as Iceman almost immediately builds himself up to put it back together. Conan is fascinated by this act of perseverance with what he believes to be a Freezing Giant, and the Barbarian is even more intrigued after Bobby offers his own beard to the Cimmerian.

Before things can escalate, Bishop enters to give the three attackers a chance to earn some Hellfire Club money, hiring them to help recover Cyclops and Storm from Knull worms. It’s a good opportunity, even if the work is almost impossible. Conan knows that the group has a secret weapon just waiting to be released, however, and he reminds Bobby Drake what exactly the X-Men veteran is capable of.

The Knullified Cyclops and Storm are both far more than the group of warriors can handle ragtag, restoring an ingenious retreat. Dragons roam upwards while Storm and Cyclops both launch sexual attacks on their friends and teammates, giving the same exit a straight-down view. Back with Bobby in the position, Conan tells his new friend that they can’t get to the floor safely, but that they can take the land to them. He tells Bobby who the Frost Giant is, and it’s time to start acting as one.

The confused Cimmerian may not have been right, but he still encouraged Bobby to summon an avalanche to transport them to the streets below safely. This puts enough distance between them and their Knullified friends to escape, but the symbiote dragons have followed closely behind them. Luckily, Bobby still has plenty of tricks up the aisle, mostly in the form of large spikes just waiting to rip through Knull’s arm.

Although he was never like him, Iceman has been one of the most powerful mutants around. As an Omega-level mutant, Bobby Drake is one of the few living mutants who could reshape the world if appropriate. But as one of the quietest members of the X-Men, Iceman rarely unleashes his powers in such a spectacular display of strength and violence, although he is certainly useful here.

While the rest of the team makes a comeback, Iceman holds on to a full symbiote dragon by himself, an action that only a handful of Marvel heroes could accomplish. Even once the others have returned to the mansion safely the Bishop is convinced that Bobby has not yet lost his one-man war against Knull’s forces, noting the faith which he also has in his co-mutant powers. While Iceman may have been one of the X-Men’s resident jokes, Conan helped the mutant remember as much of a powerful threat as possible.
