While the residents are busy cleaning and brushing the houses and clearing the garbage from their homes, the cleaning workers of the sanitation department in the Ashdod municipality work around the clock to prevent the sight of cluttered garbage cans.
All the workers are deployed throughout the city and the trucks are working restlessly. “This is a huge amount of evacuations and the largest in recent years,” says Shlomo Rotenberg, head of operations at the Ashdod municipality. “We are now working to collect the expenses of the last hours. “In addition, in previous years the removal of garbage would have ended the night before and even today we see that even now there are expenses.”

Just to clear the ear, yesterday, Thursday, Operations Division workers emptied no less than 950 tons of garbage. When on a normal day from only about 250 tons of garbage.

Preparations for Passover began with the director of operations about a month ago, when most of the city’s 300 parks were prepared for the holiday, so that residents will have a pleasant entertainment and leisure environment during the holidays. In addition, 3,000 dunams of landscaping have been treated, the trees have been pruned, the lawns have been redesigned, the benches have been painted and sidewalks have been repaired in order to prepare everything for the holiday. The municipality says that this is a very complex task – this is because Ashdod, the fifth largest city with 622 streets, 70,000 households and needs to be addressed.

The drivers work hard
“The director of operations did not rest before Passover,” says the mayor, Dr. Yehiel Lasri. “The parks are ready, the squares and landscaping areas are clean. “Thank you to Shlomo Rotenberg, Chief Operating Officer, heads of departments, divisions and departments, and to all municipal employees who have not rested in the past year at all, and in recent weeks in particular, in preparing the city for Liberty and Spring, so we can return to full life on Passover, good health and a clean and beautiful city.”
