Call of Duty 2021 is officially on the horizon, and here’s all we know about the game’s release date, who’s developing it, leaks, and more.
As always, a new year means a new Call of Duty game. The upcoming release of Call of Duty 2021 is as exciting as it can be, and we’re sure we’ll get another year of Warzone updates along with a new (or returning) setting for the franchise.
With the incredible success of Modern War, Warzone, and Cold War Black Ops, the 2021 version of Call of Duty is definitely a big release. Let’s break down everything we know right now.
CoD release date 2021
Call of Duty traditionally releases in November. However, Modern Warfare and Black Ops 4 were released in October. Preferably, Call of Duty focuses on the first Friday of every November, as we’ve seen for WW2 CoD and Infinite Warfare releases.
Friday’s tradition began with Black Ops 3, where previous games were released on the first Tuesday of November. Below you can read some of the recent Call of Duty notifications.

Activision has officially confirmed during their investment call on February 4 that a new Call of Duty game is coming this year, and the 2021 title will run in parallel with Warzone.
We might expect CoD to release 2021 again on the first Friday of November. The Cold War of Black Ops was released on the second Friday of November, which may well have been due to Treyarch ‘s unusual development period for the title.
Overall, we would definitely expect the new game to drop on the first or second Friday of November 2021.
CoD 2021 title
There are new rumors from ModernWarzone that the working title for Call of Duty 2021 is’Vanguard WWII. ‘This title adds credence to the possibility that this is a World War I game, as Vanguard is the main part of an oncoming army or naval force.
While ModernWarzone believes this title will be changed in the future, Eurogamer “understands that Activision’s current plan is to stick to the Vanguard subtitle for the final version.”
An official word has not yet come from Activision, and plans could certainly change in the future.
CoD 2021 position and time
One rumor suggests that the 2021 game will be set during World War II again, and Eurogamer has stated that this will be true.
ModernWarzone stated that CoD: WWII Vanguard would be a turn-based version of the WWII set in the 1950s. However, Eurogamer sources contradicted this information, stating that it would be “the traditional WW2 scenario. ”
We should get more teasers for the game in the coming months. Leaks are, as always, hard to prove, with plenty of community members posting fake leaks for every new CoD game.
Developer
The main custom development studios for Call of Duty are Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, and Treyarch. These studios typically operate on 3-year development cycles. However, Sledgehammer Games did not have a major match for their latest planned 2020 release, which became Treyarch ‘s Cold War Black Ops.
Because of this, Sledgehammer Games are the most likely contenders to develop the Call of Duty 2021 title. Eurogamer also believes that SHG will develop WWII Vanguard, reporting that “their sources have stated that this is true. ”
