Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit demands that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appoint permanent ministers to replace the deputies whose tenure is about to expire, including the ministers of communications, water, higher education and especially the Minister of Justice.

According to the letter, the vacancy at the Ministry of Water Resources and Higher Education will expire tomorrow, March 27, and the vacancy at the Ministry of Justice will expire on April 1. On April 8, the period of filling the place in the Ministry of Social Equality will end.

The ombudsman also noted that in the Ministry of Science and Technology, the period of filling the place will end soon, on April 12, and that a permanent minister must also be appointed for it.

“In order to avoid the serious harm to significant and vital public interests, I will again request that you act as soon as possible to promote all the above-mentioned ministerial appointments, including and even more so, the appointment of a Minister of Justice,” Mandelblit wrote.

“A situation in which the Ministry of Justice is left without an incumbent minister will cause severe harm to the work of the ministry and the functioning of the government, for all that it entails.”
