The pharmaceutical company Pfizer has started an experiment examining the vaccine at the age of 15-12 and now together with Biontech have also started an experiment that will test the effects of the vaccine for corona on children under 12, the aim to extend the vaccines to these ages in early 2022.
The first volunteers of the experiment received the first shots this week, the experiment should include children from the age of six months to the age of 12, and will examine in the advanced stages of the experiment what dose is appropriate for different ages – 10, 20 or 30 micrograms. The vaccine is expected to expand to a total of 4,500 trials, and as part of this, the safety of the trial and the immune response to it will be examined.
Pfizer’s vaccine is the only one approved for use in the United States for ages 16-18, while Modern’s vaccine is approved for ages 18 and up. No other vaccine has so far been approved for use under the age of 18.
If this is the advisory committee to the Ministry of Health in Israel, they are still considering whether to recommend vaccinating children aged 15-12, even before the international approval is given.
