In the delivery room at Hadassah Ein Kerem, there was not a dry eye left this week when Rivka Khoury, the eldest daughter of Efrat and Itzik Khoury, came into the world – they have been waiting for her for 21 years.

Itzik and Efrat Khoury from Beit Shemesh got married 21 years ago, and since then, over the years, they have tried to have children: “We went through a lot of treatments,” says Itzik, “We tried all the possible treatments over and over again and the difficulty was great.”

The couple says that about a year ago they received a blessing from Rabbi Kanievsky, and at the same time continued their fertility treatments. According to them, they have never lost faith. “After a short period of blessing, we were informed of the pregnancy,” Itzik continues, “the joy was immense, and 9 months later my wife gave birth to our eldest daughter, Rivka, at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. “After a loss of water, but we stayed to wait under the supervision of the disease, because there was no opening yet. The great staff here monitored and checked Efrat all the time, everyone understood how special this pregnancy is.

In the maternity ward “Zero Separation” in Hadassah Ein Kerem, Efrat Khoury recovers, and the baby is close to her mother throughout the day and stays with her in her room. “I thank Hadassah’s staff who were just wonderful, really awesome,” says Itzik excitedly.

“They went out of their way to give us the best experience and were very sensitive to the situation, and especially Tami Goldberg, one of our midwives, who was truly an angel – she was so calm, relaxed and peaceful, and worked in full partnership with my wife, and the delivery room was special.” Itzik describes. “We are grateful to the staff of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital – both to the staff in the delivery room and to the wards, who really did everything for the best. We are excited and thrilled.”
