Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with al-Arabiya today (Wednesday) and revealed that his country intends to invite Palestinian and Israeli figures to hold talks in China.
He further noted that they intend to cooperate with the Middle East countries in the field of corona vaccines, emphasizing that so far they have had a fruitful and successful cooperation with Saudi Arabia in this field. Wang, who began a tour of the Middle East this week, also expressed support for a Saudi initiative announced Monday to end the war in Yemen.
As you may recall, in recent years China and Saudi Arabia have been expanding their cooperation in the energy and finance industries, and many deals have been signed between the two in several areas. Salman, King of Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman al-Saud also hinted that China could increase its diplomatic footprint in the Middle East, noting that “Saudi Arabia is ready to work hard with China to promote world and regional peace, security and prosperity.”
In addition, the Chinese Foreign Minister revealed that they wanted to reach a free trade agreement with the Arab Gulf states and that “we must work on a common security system with the Arab states.”
