Greetings from a lousy government

Whoever you vote for on Election Day, we can all agree that no-one will miss the outgoing government.

This includes Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had to abide by certain discounts as part of the coalition agreement, and Blue & White director Benny Gantz, who had been continually insulted by Netanyahu from the day he was sent. e name of the consortium agreement.

This also includes the ministers who received flexible packs even though they had no authority at all, the civil servants whose status was reduced and honor stamped, and the opposition who tried to get drunk. remove this strong form of government from the first day.

In fact, what happened to the 35th Israeli government, which was created at the height of the pandemic of coronavirus in Israel, was written in stone before it was ever proclaimed.

This is mainly because the gap between Netanyahu and Gantz was too wide for its bridge.

Netanyahu had no respect for Gantz or his political skills, and Gantz and his colleagues in Blue & White paid great homage to the Prime Minister and his integrity.

Whatever the crisis, no government can build on such grim foundations.

Nevertheless, they tried. Lawyers and politicians worked night and day until they formed a coalition agreement with a tight air, which was enshrined in Basic Law.

This in itself was a nuisance, at least, because the fundamental laws of the state were designed as the basis for any future constitution. Resolving political constraints through re-enactment of these laws is close to sacrilegious.

And that was the end of it.

In a display of unprecedented corruption and inequality among the pandemic, Netanyahu persuaded Gantz to agree to a government under a flourishing of 36 ministers and 16 deputy ministers, the implementation of the Norwegian law, which gave politicians a fourth-level seat at the table of this shambolic government, and a series of other silly concessions that did nothing but weaken Gantz in the eyes of his voters.

Netanyahu, meanwhile, devoted most of his efforts to considering his block, first by allowing Ben-Gurion Airport to remain open the the center of the pandemic so as not to bother him then – US President Donald Trump and the Haredi region.

Netanyahu also worked to oust the Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs – both with Blue & White ministers – and bend the Ministry of Finance to his own personal and political needs.

At the height of the health crisis, Netanyahu neutralized all of his ministers in the health ministry, which was also under authority.

All Gantz could do is use the coalition agreement to make any illegal move with his recent partner, such as Netanyahu’s efforts to abolish the independence of the legal system.

For these reasons, Netanyahu is to blame for the fourth election in two years, more than the previous three.

At the same time, Netanyahu has promised his MPs a “full-fledged government,” although he does not specify exactly what that means.

Does this include support for the deployment of parts of the West Bank? Heaven forbidden! After all, Trump – that good friend of Israel – has stopped the latest attempt to gain sovereignty over Jordan Valley.

Is the right in reality a nationalist? Not a chance. As Netanyahu explains to the Arab voters he has been courting this time, the State of Nations Law – which effectively allowed Israeli Arabs to become second-class citizens – was to punish African migrants.

Instead, Netanyahu leaves the definition of “full-right” as the extremist protégés Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, who describe it as the destruction of the state’s legal system.

The contract he made with these justices is not a partnership, but a moving contract. Netanyahu may win those elections, but his new partners will really miss Benny Gantz.
