Myanmar massacre: Dozens of protesters shot dead

Bloody Day in Myanmar: 37 protesters were shot dead by army and police in the country’s largest city, Yangon, and 29 Chinese foreign workers were killed in an attack on Chinese businesses in the city.

Harsh scenes of the massacre were circulated on social media, tamarinds and videos of protesters being shot with live fire and run over by armor were circulated on the net. Some of the protesters set up dances and began throwing stones and bottles at army forces.

Alongside the demonstrations, Bingon carried out a series of attacks on Chinese-owned businesses, with attackers using Molotov cocktails to set fire to factories and workshops in which Chinese operate. The army declared a full military curfew on the city of Yangon. Local doctors told Reuters news agency that the army had executed several protesters who were caught after setting fire to Chinese businesses in the city’s Liangatya district.

According to reports by the television network affiliated with the junta regime, four textile factories and a fertilizer plant were attacked in the Langaangia district and about 2,000 people gathered to prevent firefighters from reaching the factories.

The suspicion is that Chinese businesses were attacked due to China’s support for the junta government, which was condemned by the international community. The junta came to power in a military coup in early February and since then more than a hundred people have been killed in demonstrations against the junta rule.

Meanwhile, one of the leaders of the ousted government, Mahn Weing Heing Than, who went underground after the coup, called on the public to go out in revolution against the junta rule and announced that he would form an emergency government.
