While the accuracy of Google Maps has certainly grown over the years, the app still misses many old and new roads. Several times, users have reported that some roads are marked or named incorrectly on the app. Now, Google has found a solution to this by adding three new ways that anyone can update Google Maps. Google says yes updating its map editing feature and will allow users to add new or needed roads, re-align if necessary, and even rename and delete the wrong ones.
This feature will be rolled out to as many as 80 countries in the coming months.
How to update / edit roads on Google Maps
If a user notices a desired location on Google Maps, they can simply click on the side map button. Then click on the “Edit Map” option and select “Missing Road”. “Replace roads that are needed by drawing lines, quickly renaming roads, changing road directions, and redesigning or removing wrong roads,” Google said.

Consumers can now even tell the company if a road is closed, along with dates, reasons and directions.
However, just clicking a few options on the record button does not add, delete or rename roads, of course. Google says to make sure the recommendations and edits are true and correct, the company reviews and confirms before making the changes available to the public. Google will take about seven days to review your request.
This differs from the edits that Google has approved so far. At this point, if a user wants to add a desired road, they can simply drop a pin on the path and type in the name of the road and submit the information to Google. The new tool should also make it easier to set road names or even directions.
In addition to this, the company has added another new feature – a “photo update”. This new feature allows Google users to take pictures of a place without a full review. Users can add images of a setting as they can also see the recent photos posted by others.
