Google seems to be changing the YouTube experience for Chromecast-connected TV, as some users have noticed. The search giant not only adds more functionality, but it changes the UI design on TV as well, making it appear as a fake YouTube app.
If you have a TV connected to Chromecast, you will be familiar with the process of streaming video from your phone to the TV, where you all see a video player that provides basic details such as channel name, account view, header day and time at the bottom left hand corner. And once you’re done watching the video, it will take you back to the “Ready to Watch” shower screen.

However, as reported by 9to5Google, a couple of users have started to see a different experience. As they are, the player now allows you to perform more tasks such as changing resolutions, closed captions, subtitles, and accessing “Stats for nerds.” They will even be able to add new videos to the queue / playlist. Additionally, the updated version no longer shows the shower screen. It now shows a home screen with suggestions on what to watch next, a similar experience to what you get with Android TV.
While a couple of users have gone against this new YouTube for Chromecast app, one of them has named u / garethonreddit on an image of the options screen placed on the Chromecast Ultra. From the image, it is worth noting that this is a web version but the “Client” notes that it has HTML5 power. They could also clear monitoring and monitoring history, as well as “Reset app. ”
Interestingly, Google has yet to say anything about the YouTube app for Chromecast users and the new interface has since become obsolete for both users, according to the report.
