During a night military training in the Shefar’am area, a fighter was attacked by two suspects, the IDF said this morning (Thursday). Preliminary investigation shows that a violent confrontation developed between the fighter and the suspects.
The fighter who was alone, during a lone navigation, struggled with the suspects and as a result was lightly wounded. He called his commanders to the scene and received medical treatment. The issue is being investigated by the commanders, and at the same time the MPC, the police and the GSS have begun investigating the incident.
Against the background of the incident, the Chief of Staff, Major General Aviv Kochavi, spoke today, as part of the General Staff’s assessment of the situation. He noted that this was a serious case, in which a red line was crossed. The chief of staff said that the IDF will continue to work with the police and security bodies to promote systemic treatment in the field and bring the perpetrators to justice in the incident.
