Jose, 51, coached the Estonian national team more than a decade ago and in recent years has had success as technical director of the young Dutch national teams. Hussein is in his second term at the Football Association, after arriving in 2013 and replacing Muhammad Alakh, the former professional manager of Maccabi Haifa. Jose Hiddink was the one who recommended the heads of the Dutch association to choose him and was also the one with whom senior officials in the Israeli association spoke. At the time, Jose was a leading candidate to come in place of Rotensteiner, but the commitment to Utrecht prevented his arrival – and now an opportunity has arisen to land him again.

The teams up to the age of 17 and 19 under him have reached the European Championships every year. In 2016, the Dutch under-17 team reached the Euro semi-finals and in 2017 the quarter-finals. The under-19 team under him reached the semi-finals in 2017, while a year and two years earlier had been relegated to the home stage. Jose also served as technical director at PSV Eindhoven, Angie Makhachkala and CSKA Moscow. Today, Jose works at the UEFA and gives lectures and has a key role in Utrecht.
