When The Undertaker said its ‘farewell’ to WWE at the Survivor Series last year, the wrestling world was united in showing the value to ‘The Phenom’.
Fans, friends and even other Superstars praised his amazing 30-year run in WWE.
Now, the two – time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has revealed what he told the Undertaker after his retirement.
Flair and The Undertaker competed on WWE programs for a number of years, with their most famous game coming at WrestleMania 18 in 2002.
However, behind the scenes, the couple have a lot of respect for each other, as evidenced by the text message Flair sent to The Undertaker at the end of last year.
Per talkSPORT, the 16-time global fan recently shared his words as part of an interview with Wrestling Inc. In the message, Flair was full of praise for The Undertaker. Read it:
“Happy Thanksgiving Camp !! Thank you for carrying this business and setting the bar of greatness! The bar we have all tried to reach and very few have even gotten close!
“Then, now and forever you are ‘The Champ’ !! So proud to call you my friend.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Flair has such a high regard for the Undertaker.
Their 18-game WrestleMania game was one of Flair’s top spots in WWE after a nine-year presence from the company and spoke clearly about The Undertaker’s role in helping it succeed.
“That’s when Mark carried me, but we had a hell of a game,” Flair said of the pair’s WrestleMania tour.
“In 2002, I’m 54, but we had a hell of a game, which was very good. After The Last Ride (documentary series), he talks about (how) he had some uncertainty as well.

“His surroundings were about health problems, bad back and stuff like that, which made him insecure. Mine was all mental but we share that in common.”
Despite the challenges the two faced, they went on to get one of the best games on display that night – one that is so fondly remembered as part of the famous WrestleMania climb at The Undertaker.
Flair also went on to talk about what others believe in his abilities to help him over the years:
“Self-confidence, whether it’s your body that sustains or your mind and being able to do and achieve it at the level that everyone thinks you can, is not no matter how many times Hunter (Triple H) says to me, ‘God bless him! You are Ric Flair!

“Get out there and relax. Be yourself. ‘It goes in one ear, and it goes out the other.
“You shake your head and go ‘yes,’ and then you walk through the curtain and it’s just not there. And I think that’s just a result of being knocking down so far.
“I still enjoyed some of that time and good guys, Randy (Orton) Dave (Batista and) Hunter. How cool is that? Right ?!”
While Flair had very kind words for The Undertaker after his retirement, it is true to say that the feeling for each other is on the side of ‘The Deadman’.
Both are professional fighting statues, who have built remarkable legacies during their careers.
As Flair himself said in his text message, we are unlikely to see much of an impact in WWE as the Undertaker. The same thing happens for Flair.
