Viktor Hovland slipped down the board of directors at the WGC-Workday Tournament after being able to pick up a blistering start in Florida.
The Norweigan put five birdies in a row in his first six holes at The Concession Club, with a backhand from the seventh leading him to seven under for the day and short within two of the lead.
Hovland then got up an ugly four-legged at the ninth par-four – his last hole – after slipping out of the bushes into the bunker and then thinning the next picture to a playable lie, with three under-69s seen going into the weekend seven strokes behind director Brooks Koepka.

“I mean I felt like I did a good job going through my options and not putting too much pressure on me,” Hovland said. Sky Sports. “The only brainwashing there is that I tried to shoot the hero from the bunker’s lips.
“I hit a horrible bullet and the second scene is where all the trouble starts. I have to catch it a little cleaner and hit the green, then I’d shoot at 65. It’s just small edges. “

Bryson DeChambeau is another stroke off the pace despite posting a score of 13 beats better than the opening day, with the U.S. Open kicking back from the 77th opening round to match round- day 64 low at Collin Morikawa.
“It’s just a golf story, you can have both ends of the stick,” DeChambeau said. “I didn’t play terrible yesterday, I didn’t get anything going my way, especially on that back nine. I had bad mistakes and that’s what happened.
