Deshaun Watson told Houston Texans new head coach David Culley that his desire to be traded this offseason remains unchanged as the two spoke late last week, the NFL Network and ESPN reported Thursday.

The quarterback officially called for a trade at the end of January after being frustrated with the group’s behind-the-scenes approach, most notably the team’s failure to consult with him about hiring a new general manager Nick Caserio despite promises to be involved in the process with Cal McNair owner.

Watson has a no-trade clause in the four-year, $ 177.5m contract extension he signed in September and the Texans have so far been adamant they will not deliver their star player.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said some interested parties have gone so far as to leave Texans voicemails detailing their various trade offers as the start of the new league year on March 17 approaching.

Watson finished the 2020 season with 4,823 senior leagues passing yards for a career-high 33 and a 70.2-percent completion percentage to just seven innings. He has thrown for 14,539 yards and 104 touchdowns and torn for 1,677 yards and 17 scores in four seasons since being drafted by the 12th overall pick in 2017, and is currently a full-time NFL leader. in finishing percentage ahead of New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Breaban.

Speaking at Culley’s inaugural press conference, newly appointed GM Caserio emphasized that the Texans had ‘zero interest’ in Watson’s trade.
