Girl on the Train Director Ribhu Dasgupta: We have given our own color to the Hindi variation

Girl on the Train director Ribhu Dasgupta says if he didn’t want the coronavirus-induced lock, his upcoming film would be comfortably released in 2020. “We did it just before the infection . We were banging on time with its production. Then the pandemic struck. It’s not like we did it for two years, ”he said.

Ribhu, whose last Netflix project featured Bard of Blood, is back to release his new film on the streaming platform. Featuring Parineeti Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary, Kirti Kulhari and others, The Girl on the Train is the Hindi remake of the 2016 Hollywood film starring Emily Blunt. The original was based on Paula Hawkins’ favorite novel of the same name.

Commenting on how he reworked the screenplay to suit Indian taste, Ribhu only told indianexpress.com, “There was stuff already, there was a novel, there was a movie. Of course the structure and the basic material are from there. However, we have given it our own color. “

“Before I started writing the script, I knew about the things that really work and parts that will not be so important to the film. Since it was a Hindi movie, we had to rewrite some sections, give some elements to the characters and write them in a very different way. At the end of the day, you are an Indian consumer, so they were our first priority. Now, we’ll see how people respond because some have seen the original, most haven’t, I think, ”said the director.

While Parineeti gets into Rachel Emily Blunt ‘s shoes, Aditi plays Megan and Kirti is the investigating officer in the psychological thrush. Ask Ribhu if there is anything he would like to change about the film, he said, “As soon as you have made the film, it is already done. I’ve delivered it to Netflix as well. So even if I want to change nothing, I can’t change. And I think once you see the film, you know, the kind of change we made. ”

Sharing interesting stories about the shooting of the film on a train in London, Ribhu revealed that The Girl on the Train has given him beautiful memories. “This has been a great experience. We have had a year. But we still remember in nuances, where we burned, how we burned. So, overall, it’s been very emotional and very happy for me, ”he said.

The Girl on the Train aired on Netflix on February 26th.
