Broken heart: You probably won’t expect it, and the whole thing is yours

“Broken Heart” is another example of those series that air on a particularly non-mainstream channel and is missed because it does not receive bombastic promos and media buzz. Although this is not always a significant loss, but this time, it is very worthwhile to give a chance to the three-episode program that aired this week on HOT8.

There is no person who has not experienced the miserable and terrible feeling of a broken heart. It does not have to be caused by separation from a partner – it is about any feeling of loss, abandonment and loss of self-worth that makes everything suddenly appear gray and significantly increases the desire to eat something fattening under the blanket. Better Ben & Jerry’s.

In these days of the epidemic, heartbreak seems to have become something even more common – from the loss of relatives and friends who were overwhelmed by the disease to the loss of the workplace, the routine of life and of course, separations between spouses who found themselves, probably for the first time, trapped 24/7 between four walls .

This is exactly the feeling that Prof. Yoram Yuval and Ivri Lider are dealing with in their new program, and the surprising combination of the two works great. Yuval leads the scientific axis – meets with scientists of all kinds, from psychologists to cardiologists and discusses with them, without burdening in astronomical terms, the crisis that the body experiences when the heart is broken. If you thought Chevron was just a metaphor, you would be surprised to find out not exactly (have you heard of “Broken Heart Syndrome”?). Lider, as expected, is in charge of the musical axis, and meets with artists who reveal to us, some for the first time, the surprising and heartbreaking stories of their designers.

There is such a magic in music that once you understand the story behind a particular song – the experience of listening to it changes completely. This is what happened to me with “Burning in Me Change”, which sheds a completely different light on it after Marina Maximilian Blumin tells the story of her divorce. Like him, Arkady Duchin’s “My Own Room” took on a completely different garnet after Duchin candidly recounts the number of times he was hurt by a failed love affair.

In addition to them, Avraham Tal, Eden Hasson, Micha Sheetrit and Daniel Salomon also share their fragments, which are expressed in songs we are all familiar with – when in each episode the same songs are performed by the artists, in collaboration with Lider, in a charming acoustic piano performance.

“Broken Heart” manages to penetrate mainly because of two main things: one, the excellent combinations – from the pair of presenters to the harmonious and surprising connection between two fields that usually do not touch like science and art. The second, is the adherence to the message and optimism. True, heartbreak is a difficult and crippling feeling that takes time to recover from, but it is possible, and even explained to us how to do it more correctly. If you have ever missed someone or something – do yourself a favor, do not miss “Broken Heart”.
