Last Thursday, NASA launched its Perseverance Mars 2020 rover in Jezero Crater on the surface of the red planet.
Perseverance is the most advanced rover ever built by NASA, and is loaded with over 20 HD cameras, as well as a few microphones to capture its entire journey, starting with a terrifying descent this week which passed through the Martian atmosphere.
Within minutes of being successfully surfaced during the “sky crane” maneuver first performed by the Curiosity rover back in 2012, Perseverance delivered a few toes with a low back solution. to NASA’s Jet Devolution Laboratory at CalTech.

High-resolution photos and video needed to get back to Earth in more time, as mission leaders had been warned for weeks before they landed. Simply put, a modern broadband network is not available to instantly cut high-def video files between planets.
NASA released one epic hi-res image on Friday showing a view of Stability as it was lowered from the descent model, the center of the sky.

What NASA did not release over the weekend, however, was a video spanning the surface of Mars accompanied by Martian wind sounds.
That viral snippet, which has been seen tens of millions of times on Twitter alone, is a fake doctor of photos taken years ago by Curiosity, which has revolved around another part of Mars.
While the images are from Mars, they are panoramic stills sewn together to look as if the rover were circling itself. The sound of the wind added to the images is completely misleading, as Curiosity is not equipped with microphones.
Fortunately, NASA has promised to deliver some video, hopefully with audio from Perseverance, very soon.
The space agency says the image above is from a descendant of Perseverance as part of a larger video that is still being released to Earth. A press conference was scheduled for Monday afternoon at 2pm ET and we were told to expect visuals.
So enjoy the old modified Curiosity images, but you know we hope that something new and even more amazing is coming soon.
