Young Israelis who crashed into a bar in Tel Aviv for a few shots took a pleasant surprise Thursday – a dose of the Covid vaccine was one of them.
The bar, Jenia, offered customers a job and a free drink, in an effort to encourage more young people to be circulated.
Although Israel has already vaccinated the majority of people over 60 and more than 40 percent of the general population, officials are struggling to get young people to account for their injections. .
The free drinks available at the non-alcoholic bar were strong, but this did not stop young Israelis from coming in.
“I thought it was a great opportunity to come and get the vaccine, because I didn’t have the time or ability to go elsewhere,” said May Perez, among dozens of people who showed up for their first injection.
Maya Nouri, a member of Tel Aviv city council and custodian of the young residents’ package, said: “If the young person does not come vaccinated, the vaccines will come to them. even if you do not have the energy, time or desire to get the vaccine – come, take charge and vaccinate yourself.
“This is the only way to return to normalcy and the exciting life of Tel Aviv that we are all so fond of.”
This came as a result of a new study in Israel that yielded more encouraging results regarding the effectiveness of vaccines.
Analysis of data in a study by the Israeli Ministry of Health and Pfizer Inc. found that the Pfizer vaccine developed by BioNTech in Germany reduced infection, including in asymptomatic cases, by 89.4% and in the symbolic cases by 93.7%.
The results of the pre-published study, which has not yet been peer-reviewed, but based on a national database that is among the most advanced in the world, were first reported by the Israeli news site Ynet late Thursday and was obtained by Reuters on Friday.
