DUBAI: Before the coronavirus epidemic hit early last spring, our homes used to be a place where we spent only a fraction of our lives. Much of the day was spent at work, commuting to work and enjoying our favorite pastimes and past moments like going to the gym, outdoors for dinner or watching a movie in the cinema.
Now, much of the world is working, communicating and exercising from our homes. So it makes sense that, since we had to change the way we live, we are also changing the places in which we live. To help those who want to splurge up their living space, UAE-based Neeshay Nouman has set up her own interior design company, The Niche Corner.
A former professor at the American University in Dubai, Nouman decided to change career paths last year and pursue what she has always wanted to do.
For Nouman, her interest in interior design is “genetic,” she joked with Arab News.
“My mum and grandmother have always been very much into a visible house and I think I took that from them,” she explained. “We’ve moved around so much, so everywhere I go I try to make that place as alive as possible, even though it may not be my permanent home. there. It just gives me the pleasure of putting a design together and bringing it to life, ”she said.
Before launching her own company, Nouman dabble in interior design in person, helping her family and friends. “But then I decided I didn’t want to spend time now,” she said. “If you know you’re good at something you should follow, you should go with your gut feeling.”
And that’s exactly what she did. Since the launch of The Niche Corner, Sydney-based Abu Dhabi interior designer has gone on to work on a number of local projects, using her expertise to create the homes of several clients. want to renew their accommodation during lockdown.
Below, Nouman shares his expert tips for creating your dream home.
