Bugatti has just unveiled its US $ 9.6M Centodieci Hypercar ultra-exclusive prototype

While it may have debuted more than a year ago, French automotive company Bugatti this week unveiled the first Centodieci hyper sports car prototype for series development; paving the way for end product and customer delivery.

The Bugatti Centodieci comes in praise of the Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli and the architect Giampaolo Benedini, the two men who created the legendary Bugatti EB 110 more than thirty years ago. The flat, two-sided body of the EB 110 has been transported, in short, to the age of 21st century thanks to the Centodieci prototype; crosses the line between a much-loved classic and a hyper-modern car.

“The challenge for us was not to be involved in the design of the legendary EB 110 itself and to avoid focusing solely on a retrospective approach,” Achim Anscheidt, Director of Design at Bugatti explained in a note news. “Our aim was to create a modern interpretation of the shape and technology of that period: but at the same time, we did not want to lose the charm and character of EB 11. After all, the big sports car is still interesting today with its unique design and technology. ”

Limited to just ten examples, the ultra-compact vehicle is equipped with an 8.0-liter W-16 engine that delivers 1,600 hp and propels from zero to 62 mph in just 2.4 seconds. While the EB 110 is the legendary vehicle in its own right, compared to the 3.5-liter V-12 engine it delivers just 603 hp at best.

“Every newly developed vehicle is a major challenge, as we are creating a very small series that needs to meet and even exceed the quality and safety standards in a series. great, ”said André Kullig, technical project manager for one-off and small-off projects at Bugatti. “The development of a series of small-scale away projects is a particular challenge – as is the case with Centodieci, which is a highly design-led project.”

Although it has been extensively tested by imitating the prototype crows, the Centodieci is expected to remain undergoing a series of dynamic tests over the coming months – and is expected to hit the test trail. to start tuning the cheese and strengthening the exterior of the vehicle this spring.
