
The Israeli Cabinet has allowed the restrictions on economic activity to be lifted while coronavirus infection levels continue the downward trend.
From Sunday, shopping centers, markets, museums and libraries will reopen to everyone. But Israelis have to prove that they have been vaccinated, or that they have recovered from the disease, to get access to gyms, sports, cultural centers and hotels, all of which have been allowed to reopen .
Schools will also be allowed to welcome more students.
The number of new cases of Covid-19 stood at 5,138 on Monday – by comparison, the figure two weeks ago stood at 8,909.
Israel has been making rapid progress in its vaccination program and is on track to become the first country in the world to have the total population, of about 9 million people.
Ministry of Health data suggests that more than 4 million people in Israel will have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of Tuesday, with more than 2.6 million people receiving the second dose as well.
