Andre Drummond has finished his career in Cleveland, ESPN reports tonight (Monday). According to the publication, the Cubs plan to transfer the chin in the trade by the end of the transfer deadline on March 25. In Cleveland they decided that Jarrett Allen, who moved from Brooklyn in a mega trade that also included James Harden, would be their opening high and on which they build the club’s future.
Following this they decided that it would not be fair towards Drummond, twice Allstar and one of the highest quality chins in the league, who will get few minutes.
Cubs general manager Kobe Altman spoke with Drummond and his agent, and the parties reached a decision together. The chin will continue to train with the team until he passes, but as stated he will not take part in the games. There is currently no direction for a trade regarding Drummond, but in light of the current decision, it seems that it is only a matter of time before a new home is found for himself.
Drummond has not played in the team’s last two games against the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State. In Cleveland it was claimed that he was given a rest, but he came to the games wearing a shirt with the caption ‘Farewell’. Drummond is averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds this season. The chin’s contract ($ 28.7 million) will expire at the end of the season.
