Russell Knox was punished with a bullet on the first hole
Russell Knox bravely confronted him as he reflected on a controversial rules event that hampered his challenge for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am title.
Knox was just two strokes behind night leader Jordan Spieth when he started his last round with a perfect tee firing down the middle of the first chance, but his problems began when he started the used a prequel for his approach.
The Scot was settling over the 160-yard shot when he noticed his ball moving a fraction, and moved again asking a presiding officer to assess the situation, mi -determined whether he had moved the ball.
Knox was told of his punishment when he left the fifth tee
Knox explained himself to the officer, who arrested him for any crime at the time only for another investigation to find out that Knox would be subject to a one-shot penalty, a decision he was notified when he left the fifth tee.
While the 35-year-old took the beating with good grace, he admitted the news came at a very bad time as he had just had a terrible lip-out with his plate on the green quarter before he drew his tee drawing to the fifth cut into a green bunker.
When asked to explain the events of the first hole, Knox gave a strong gesture of confidence when he said: “Yeah, I wanted to get my ball up the aisle to take advantage but sadly I got caught , which killed him!

“But, no, I was just getting a little comfortable. I believe I put the club down, I moved up, a little waggle, I came down and the ball just crawled a little bit, and then obviously I was supposed to face it.And even after I walked away, the ball moved a little further, like 30 seconds later, which was weird.
“It’s just one of those horrible rules that we all go against. It didn’t benefit in any way, and it happened to Maverick McNealy yesterday, my playing partner, so it’s just, this is one of those awful rules I got on the first hole.
“At first, the decision was that I didn’t move, because it was such a gray area there, and eventually we got it right and I faced the ball, so it was I should be punished. It is indeed a rule that I beg them to abolish. “

Knox, who had found second and third inside a shot of the lead, admitted he was told of his penalty on the fifth tee that he was a “triple whammy”, although he replied with a birdie at sixth and also birdied 17 and 18 to finish 70 and tie a finish for seventh on 13 under par.
“Unfortunately it was like the worst time ever, maybe, because I was fishing two and fishing three and I was flying,” he said. “And then I hit it close to four and I got a full horse shoe from three feet, and then I hit it in the worst place ever on the fifth and I was told to walk up there.
