Rep Ilhan Omar’s 9/11 ‘anti-American’ comments have resurfaced when Fox News guest Pete Hegseth promoted her to be ‘absurd’ amid a Republican attempt to oust committees House.

Omar was promoted to Vice-Chair of the House of Foreign Affairs Committee’s subcommittee on Africa and global human rights issues, according to the Star Tribune.

It comes just weeks after a Republican tried to remove her from House committees as part of retaliation for the Democratic move to remove Marjorie Taylor Greene from the Education and Labor committee and the Budget committee.

Since then, Omar’s 2019 views through the Council on America-Islamic Relations (CAIR) have reiterated.

At the time, Omar said the council was set up ‘after 9/11 because they recognized that some people had done something and that we were all starting to lose access to our civil liberties’.

In response to Omar’s post, Pete Hegseth, co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend on Fox News Primetime, told Mark Steyn: ‘The idea that Ilhan Omar is even on foreign affairs, foreign relations committee, is unconventional. ‘

During a CAIR speech, Omar also said that Muslims in the US became ‘second-class citizens’ and lost some civil liberties in the wake of the terrorist attacks.

Speaking to her views at CAIR, Hegseth continued: ‘She is now vice-chair of a sub-committee… This is the Democratic Party today, anti-Americanism writ large. ‘

Omar opposed strong criticism of the comments and at one point circulated claims that Omar said: ‘My people did something.’ But that proved to be false, according to the Associated Press.

A circulating image on Facebook showing the two towers of the World Trade Center firing with pictures of Omar laughing, wrongly states that the Democratic correspondent said, “My people did something, ”Said the AP at the time.

Earlier this month Omar accused the Republican party of accusing her of calling for Greene to be fired.

Minnesotan, 38, said it was the ‘Republican playbook’ to try to blame Muslims, blacks and women for the scandals of their ‘loony’ members.

In response to Omar's post, Pete Hegseth (right), co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend on Fox News Primetime appeared to tell Mark Steyn: 'The idea that Ilhan Omar is even on the foreign affairs committee, relations committee foreign. absurd '

The GOP was under great pressure to remove Greene from committee assignments over her support for conspiracy theories and violent astronomy.

Omar – who has traded in anti-Semitic ropes – was targeted by Greene’s allies who argue that Democrats are in danger of setting a dangerous precedent if they put her out.

Speaking to MSNBC Omar said: ‘Sadly, this is the Republican playbook. We saw it with Donald Trump. Whenever they suffer for what they have done to weaken our democracy, they blame Muslims, they blame immigrants, they blame blaming black people, they blame women.

‘I just happen to embrace all that identity and I want to make sure we’re clear about this.

‘This is not about me and should not be about me. This is about a member of the Republican caucus who has once again incited violence and a Republican unable to put down a magic wand and attack the black conference. ‘

Taylor was removed from both of her committees on Feb. 4 after Democrats accused her of spreading theories of conspiracy to hate and violence.

Almost all Republicans voted against the Democrat movement but none of them defended its long history of horrific social media posts.
