The Ministry of Health on Friday revoked the licenses of Yuval Carmi and Idan Kosovsky – two psychologists suspected of sexually assaulting their patients. The two are not allowed to practice their profession as long as the suspension is in effect.
The Forum of Organizations for Public Psychology stated: “A psychologist’s sexual assault on a patient is a very serious injury, as well as a serious criminal and ethical offense. Hanging the license is an extremely important step on the part of the Ministry of Health for the protection of public health and patient safety.”
The forum added: “We send best wishes for healing and rehabilitation to the victims, congratulate the Ministry of Health on the important step, and encourage the public to check in the register of psychologists that the professionals they contact are registered and experts in their field.”
The director general of the Authority for the Advancement of Women, Eva Madjibouz, addressed a letter in Carmi’s case to Health Minister Edelstein earlier this month, in which she stated: “As far as sexual offenses are concerned, it is important to start reaching at least other balances between the legal and public aspects. Adoption of revolutionary thinking and with a balanced sensitivity to both aspects. “
