Facebook Working on Smart Watch to Compete with Apple Watch

Facebook is developing a smart watch that will focus on messaging and health features, according to a new report from The Information. Consumers will be able to send messages with Facebook services such as Messenger and WhatsApp, and it will work with a cellular connection without a connected smartphone.

Health features such as options for monitoring workplaces with friends or communicating with sneakers will be included, and the watch will be able to connect to services provided by health and wellness companies like Peloton. Facebook’s upcoming watch is said to run a version of Google software.

Facebook plans to sell the luxury watch close to its production cost, which is also what it does with the Oculus headset. No word on what the price will be, but competitive prices range from $ 150 to $ 400 +.

Smart surveillance is unlikely to go over well with those who have concerns about Facebook’s data collection. Amazon recently released fitness group “Halo” which has been submitted for being so aggressive. Facebook is already making some consumer hardware products including Oculus and Portal cameras and previously mentioned tablet.

Facebook’s smart watch had to compete with the Apple Watch, one of the best-selling wearables on the market. Just this morning, a report suggested that Apple Watch is owned by more than 100 million people worldwide. Facebook is also working on its own smart glasses with Ray-Ban brand that would compete with rumored products coming from Apple in the next few years.

Facebook aims to start selling their smart watch next year, with a second generation planned as early as 2023. The Information states that development is “far off,” but there is always a chance that the product could be wiped out.
