Israel posts 5,265 new virus cases, 21 new deaths

Israel reported Thursday that there were 5,265 new coronavirus cases diagnosed a day earlier, while 21 people died from the disease over the 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said.

The ministry said more than 76,000 COVID-19 tests were performed on Wednesday, putting the fall rate at 7.5%, showing a steady decline.

At least 1,027 patients are in poor condition, of which 315 are ventilated. The official death toll is now 5,265.

The Ministry of Health also said that 138,531 Israelis were vaccinated on Wednesday. This is the highest number of people vaccinated in a single day since the beginning of February. Overall, 40% of Israelis received the first dose of the vaccine and 25.25% received both doses.

The town of Tel Mond in central Israel leads the country with the highest level of vaccines, with 61% of residents receiving both doses of the vaccine. Tel Mond is followed by Lehavim and Omer to the south, with 55% of residents there getting both views.

In Meitar, Givat Avni, Kiryat Tivon, Kiryat Motzkin, Mevaseret Zion, Kiryat Ono, Kiryat Shmona, Shoham, Har Adar, Savyon, Raanana and Ramat Hasharon between 40% and 47% of the residents have been vaccinated with the two views.

In Jerusalem, only 15.98% of locals received both doses of the vaccine, in Tel Aviv 30.68%, in Haifa 33.03%, in Rishon Lezion 32.57%, in Holon 29.77%, in Ashdod 25.89% and in Bnei Brak 9.43%.
