Apple has released the macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 update that aims to solve the battery charge problem on the 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro models. Some MacBook Pro users have had problems with the older models with their laptops that they stopped charging past on one percent. To address this problem, the company has launched a battery upgrade program for the older MacBook Pro models in 2016 and 2017. MacBook Pro users can also download the macOS Catalina 10.15.7 upgrade update installation, as the new version will help the battery issue.
Those with a battery case can contact Apple to get the battery, free of charge.
Users affected by their MacBook Pro laptops can check the feasibility of the upgrade program by using the battery status in their computer system settings. Battery health status reflects the “Service Recommendation” message for the users who cannot charge their MacBook Pro laptops for more than one percent. Users can access battery health by clicking a click on the Apple tab, followed by System Preferences, Battery, and Battery on MacOS Big Sur.
Users with older macOS can check battery health by holding the selection key and clicking on the battery icon in the menu bar. If the status shows the battery normally the issue is not affected by the battery.
Those with a battery case can contact Apple to get the battery, free of charge. The company will check the laptop before the service to determine if the device is eligible for a free battery replacement.
Devices eligible for the battery replacement program include the 2016 13-inch MacBook Pro (Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports), 2017 13-inch MacBook Pro (Two Thunderbolt 3 Ports), 2016 MacBook 13-inch Pro (Four Thunderbolt 3 ports), 2017 MacBook Pro 13-inch (Four Thunderbolt 3 ports), 2016 MacBook Pro 15-inch, 2017 MacBook Pro 15-inch.
