UN inspectors have found new evidence of unexplained nuclear activity in Iran, which could bolster explanations that it is trying to develop nuclear weapons, the Wall Street Journal reported this morning (Saturday). To Atomic Energy (IAEA), which occurred at sites to which Iran prevented entry last year.
The diplomats noted that the samples in question contained traces of radioactive material, which could indicate that Iran had carried out work on nuclear weapons, according to the source from which the samples were taken. However, they noted that they do not know what the exact nature of the materials is.

Earlier this week, the IAEA announced that Iran was continuing to enrich uranium using advanced IR-2m centrifuges for a second time at the Netanz nuclear site. In December, Iran also notified the International Atomic Energy Agency of its intention to install such centrifuges at the site. “Two out of three IR-2m centrifuges are currently in operation in Iran,” the agency said in a statement.
This is a repeated violation of the 2015 nuclear deal, and once again Iran is putting US President Joe Biden to the test. Also in December, Iran announced to the International Atomic Energy Agency its intention to install IR-2m waterfalls at the site. This is in contrast to estimates that the explosion at the nuclear facility could delay the nuclear program by about two years.
