Israel hits Hezbollah targets in Syria

Syrian state television said Wednesday night that the country’s air defense was responding to an “Israeli attack” in what appears to be an attack on Hezbollah targets in the region.

The alleged attack came hours after a Lebanese terrorist group said fired on missiles against aircraft at an IDF drone in the Lebanon region. The Israeli army confirmed the firing of the missiles but said the drone was not hit and continued to operate in the country.

Syrian news agency Sana said the attack took place in the Quneitra region of southern Syria near the Golan Heights, with echoes of explosions heard in the region.

Earlier on Wednesday, two Iranian cargo planes attached to the Iranian Air Force and the Revolutionary Guards landed in Damascus and a few hours later returned to Tehran. In addition, a Syrian Air Force cargo plane made its way from Tehran to Latakia.

About two and a half weeks ago, Syria reported that Israel had invaded near the western city of Hama.

A lump of missiles was fired from the Lebanese city of Tripoli and explosions were heard in the area near the city.

An arms source in Syria said most of the missiles were seized, but parents and their two children were killed in the attack, and four others were injured.
