As last summer, the economic crisis brought with it by the corona plague was well felt in the transfer market, with quite a few loan deals across the continent instead of sales. However, the January transfer window has nevertheless managed to provide us with a number of interesting transitions, and now it’s time to summarize the most intriguing of them all.
Ozan Kabak, Schalke to Liverpool (question) – Long before the opening of the winter window, the question was asked – will the English champion attach a brake due to the multiple injuries in the defensive squad? In the end, the spoils fell just close to closing the window, with the addition of the Turk, who hopes to successfully fill the place of his revered brakeman – Virgil Van Dyke – who is unlikely to be strong enough to play this season.
Liverpool have announced the signing of Ozan Kabak from Schalke.

Mesut Ozil, Arsenal to Fenerbahce (free transfer) – The former world champion has become a key player for one who has not played since last March, and especially an economic burden on the Gunners, with one of the heaviest contracts in the league. On the Nair, the move to Turkey serves all sides when Fenerbahce added a world-renowned star, Arsenal vacated quite a bit of space in the salary budget, and the link itself “fulfilled a childhood dream”. Will this also be reflected in the lawn?

Martin Edgor, Real Madrid to Arsenal (question) – And Ozil, for those who are supposed to fill his place at the Emirates Stadium. The relationship that is considered one of the discoveries of last season in the Spanish league with Real Sociedad may have started the season as a car player under Zinedine Zidane, but injuries and devaluation in his position made him demand to go out for another loan in the current transfer window. In the next six months, the Norwegian talent will try to show that he is the missing part in Mikkel Arte’s puzzle, and at the same time, show his mother team that it is worth taking him a little more into account for next season.
👋 Welcome to The Arsenal, Martin Odegaard! 🇳🇴

Klaas-Jan Huntler, Ajax to Schalke (free transfer) – When he returned from Germany to Ajax in the summer of 2017, it seemed that the “hunter” was going to end his career in Amsterdam, but he thought otherwise. At the age of 37, Huntelaar returned to the Royal Blues in which he played seven seasons, with the aim of helping them save the season and stay in the Bundesliga. Will he meet the task?

Luca Jovic, Real Madrid to Eintracht Frankfurt (question) – The Blancos paid about 60 million euros for the Serbian striker, who never managed to acclimatize in Madrid on and off the field, and threatened the status of Karim Benzema. This led to a loan back to the team where he broke, and if in Spain Jovic needed a season and a half to score two goals, in Frankfurt 76 minutes were enough for him to score already three. The Spanish champions hope, of course, that the striker’s gallop will continue, either to return to Madrid with more confidence, or to be sold this coming summer and return at least some of the investment in him.

Alejando Papu Gomes, Atlanta to Sevilla (5.5 million euros) – He is considered one of the most exciting players in Serie A, and in the eyes of many the best Argentine in the world after Leo Messi. But despite 5 goals and 6 assists in 16 appearances this season, the relationship with coach Jean-Piero Gasparini ran aground and led to a breakup. The Andalusians jumped at the chance and added the star at a bargain price, hoping it would become a central screw in the method of Julen Luftaghi.

Dominic Suboslay, Red Bull Salzburg to R.B. Leipzig (20 million euros) – After 9 goals and 11 assists this season in Austria, like quite a few players in recent years, it was time for the 20-year-old Hungarian to upgrade his career, and he moved to the senior branch of the Red Bull Corporation. Under Julian Naglesman, he will hope to continue his great breakthrough.
Tacomi Minamino, Liverpool to Southampton (question) – Like Suboslay, the Japanese left Salzburg last winter in favor of a career upgrade, but in the past year has scored just four goals and netted two more in 31 appearances for the English champions, failing to really be a significant factor in Jürgen Klopp’s attack. Now, he will try to restart his career, in a team that has helped quite a few players upgrade over the years.Win our jersey signed by Dominik Szoboszlai ✍️

Mario Mendžukić, free transfer to Milan – After a season in Qatar, and another six months without a team, the 34-year-old Croatian returns to the big stages. Like Zlatan Ibrahimovic last year, Mendzukic will also try to contribute from his vast experience to the young talents of Milan, and after four Italian championships at Juventus, to win another one in the Rossoneri uniform.

Musa Dembele, Lyon to Atletico Madrid (question) – Diego Simeone’s side are racing for the championship this season, and after parting ways with Diego Costa, they have added the 24-year-old Frenchman as a backup to veteran Luis Suarez. After quite a few pioneers throughout history, such as Fernando Torres, Sergio Aguero and Antoine Griezmann recorded record seasons in red and white, Dembele will also hope to make the coveted leap.

Arkadyush Milik, Naples to Marseille (question) – After four and a half seasons and 48 goals with a team from the south of Italy, the Polish striker moved to its French twin, hoping to solve the problem head on. However, the situation is far from ideal in the Stade Velodrome, with quite a bit of tension between the fans and the team, and only today coach Andre Villas-Boas announced his resignation after the club added a player he did not want. Will Milik be able to overcome the obstacles and deliver the goods on the lawn?
