Dr Fauci warns that previous COVID-19 infection may not protect you from new strains

Dr Anthony Fauci has warned that there is still a ‘high risk’ of being caught with a new version of COVID-19 even if you have previously been infected, as he urged Americans to get vaccinated as soon as.

Fauci, named as Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, told a White House press conference that the vaccine was more important than ever with the emergence of new strains, especially those from Africa. -South, England and Brazil.

On Friday the first major study of South African snoring found that previous seizures did not prevent recurrence with the new strain.

Fauci explained that the disturbing news meant that more people needed to be vaccinated, in order to reduce the number of people in whom the virus can reproduce.

‘You need to get the vaccine when it is available as soon as possible across the country,’ he said.

‘And the reason for that is that viruses can’t go around unless they reproduce.

‘And if you stop the reproduction by vaccinating extensively and without giving the virus an open playing field to continue responding to the pressures you put on it, you will not get mutations. ‘

On Sunday, 471 cases of changes were first identified in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Brazil had been located in the United States, of which 467 were the variance found in Britain.

Fauci later told CNN that there was a ‘very high rate’ of being recaptured by the new variables, if they become dominant.

‘If it comes to the upper hand, it is the experience of our colleagues in South Africa that even if you are infected with the original virus there is a very high rate of recurrence to the a stage where a previous infection is unlikely to protect you against recurrence, ‘he said.

Changes could make the vaccine so effective, Fauci said, but that didn’t mean vaccines were a waste of time.

‘Even though there is less protection against the variables, there is enough protection to prevent you from getting a serious illness, including hospitalization and death,’ Fauci said. ‘Therefore, vaccination is essential.’

January was the deadliest month of the pandemic in the United States, with more than 95,300 deaths – an average of more than 3,070 deaths per day.

However, the US seems to be on a slightly more optimistic path now.
