Elitzur Ramla tonight (Sunday) defeated AS Ramat Hasharon 54: 102 and maintained a perfect league balance in the main game of the 11th round of the Athena Wiener League for women in basketball. Elitzur Holon defeated the champion, Maccabi Urban Ramat Gan 61:77 with an almost triple double by Chelsea Hopkins. 37 points by Marina Maibri led the Herzliya girls to a 68:86 victory over Hapoel Rishon LeZion. In other games: Maccabi Haifa – Maccabi Ashdod 82:79; Hapoel Bnei Petah Tikva – Maccabi Raanana 71:73.

Elitzur Ramla – A.S. Ramat Hasharon 54: 102 (31:54)
After successful performances in Europe, Elitzur Neve David Ramla proved that AS Ramat Hasharon, at least for now, is not in its league. Ramla started with 4: 7 but Jenny Sims, with 7 fast points, and help from Miriam Hanun gave Ramat Hasharon a 10:12 advantage. From here Ramla ran to 12:21 and 14:29 in the first quarter.


In the second quarter, Ramat Hasharon shrank with its new coach Tal Natan to 36:27 from points by Jackie Young and Jenny Sims. Naama Shafir, with a warm hand outside the arc and Tiffany Mitchell made sure to return the advantage to Ramla to 27:41 and 29:49. From here, in the two minutes remaining until the end of the half, Alison Hightower raised Ramla to 29-52 and 31:54 in the half.

In the third quarter, too, Ramla’s run continued to 39:70 without Ramat Hasharon succeeding in finding solutions against Mitchell, Laney, Shafir, Hightower and Alex Cohen. 45:79 at the end of the third quarter and 54: 102 at the end of 40 minutes.

Chelsea Hopkins led Elitzur Leica Holon to a big 61:77 victory over the champion from Ramat Gan when she lacked one assist from an outstanding triple double. On the other hand, Natisha Heidemann played a little over 30 minutes and finished without points. Shai Doron made her Holon debut with 5 points.

The first quarter was by Chelsea Hopkis who scored 9 points against 7 points by Eden Rotberg which gave Holon a 14:28 advantage with 0 points for Natisha Heidemann and 0 points for Kayla Hillsman. The second quarter ended at 16:19 for Ramat Gan, which went down to the halftime break with a 44:33 lag.

In the third quarter, Ramat Gan managed to reduce Holon’s advantage after finishing it in 11:18 to its credit, but Holon’s excellent last quarter ended in 10:22 and with a convincing 61:77 victory over the champion from Ramat Gan.

Maccabi Haifa – Maccabi Ashdod 82:79 (31:43)
Haifa’s 63 points shared by Haifa’s foreigner Fionde Fitzgerald, Nia Rupi and Tiana Moldero were not enough against Alexis Patterson and Maccabi Ben Ashdod’s girls who won in the end 79:82.

3 and a half minutes before the end, Tamar Singer from Haifa shrank to 75:73. Hence points from Dadija Kiev and Patterson closed interest and gave the victory to Ashdod.

A great evening by Marina Maybri with 37 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists plus 26 points by Victoria McCauley and 15 points and 10 rebounds by the new foreigner, Pollard Najai, led Herzliya to a 68:86 victory over Rishon Lezion, which enjoyed From 20 points by Chelsea Nelson. Herzliya broke a streak of three losses.

Hapoel Bnei Petah returned to the winning track after a dramatic 71:73 over Maccabi Raanana. 3 minutes and 18 seconds to go, the result was 68:68. Noa Givon raised Raanana to 70:71 two minutes and 19 seconds to go after a three. But a basket by Kayla Charles and a penalty by Wilobi closed out interest. Compliments to Jordan Gerzon from Raanana who finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 35 index points. Previous: Raanana finished the first quarter with a 22:23 advantage. Petah Tikva took the lead and went down to the half at 37:44.
