Thousands attend tonight (Sunday) the funeral of Rabbi Yitzchak Shiner in the Bukharan neighborhood of Jerusalem. After earlier today tens of thousands attended the funeral of Rabbi Meshulam David Soloveitchik, it now appears that Rabbi Shiner’s funeral is being held in a more limited presence.
The late Rabbi Shiner, Rosh Yeshivat Kaminitz in Jerusalem and a member of the Council of Torah Scholars on behalf of Degel HaTorah, died at the age of 98 after falling ill in Corona. Will serve tonight as a personal example and will not attend Shiner’s funeral.
The President of the Council of Torah Scholars, Maran Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Grig Edelstein Shlita, in his eulogy from his residence: Even where there was no holiness of a great man affects the whole generation. Now the impact is missing, and it is a disaster not only for the family and the yeshiva but for the whole generation. “What has Gd done to us, Gd has done it, all under supervision, but the degree of judgment has come upon us and our actions need to be corrected.”
The police update that about 4,000 mourners came to the eulogy compound on Ezekiel Street, and that a thousand came to the funeral ceremony on Mount of Beatitudes.

As you may recall, Rabbi Meshulam David Soloveitchik, head of the Brisk Yeshiva in the capital, died yesterday. At noon he was laid to rest with the participation of tens of thousands of people, after various rabbis called on the public to leave their occupations and join the funeral procession. The police preferred not to confront the funeral participants and did not act to disperse the illegal gathering.
Tonight it was reported in News 13 that the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Haredi Affairs, Rivka Falloch, acted during the day in front of the Haredi public leadership in order to prevent the large illegal gathering during the funeral procession, but her requests were denied.
