Betar Jerusalem players come down disappointed (Oren Ben Hakon)
Betar Jerusalem is beginning to understand the magnitude of the damage that is expected to be caused to the team due to the eruption of the corona among 17 players and two other staff members. The fear is that players will have a hard time coming back from the corona with the same intensity and they will have a hard time producing from themselves the same fitness they have been able to so far at this stage of the season, given the viral effects and consequences of the disease even after it passes.
In conversations and tests that took place at the club, it is assumed that the infection reached a group from the IDF. According to tests conducted inside the club, it appears that Roi Padida became infected in the military and from there the chain of infection began in Beit Vagan. Now the professional team, including Slobodan Drapic and Shai Barda are committed to isolation, all non-infected players are also committed to full isolation and of course the infected players. The management team that does not come into contact with the players is not committed to isolation.

On Sunday there will be further corona tests for anyone who has been negative so far. The team from the capital is talking about at least another nine days in which the team will be disabled, with the players not infected there is not too much to do and they have been given a home training program. The expectation in Jerusalem is that it will be possible to return to training at the end of the period in the hope that no player will suffer from complications of the disease.
Officials at the club speculate that due to the current situation the team may not be strengthened in January. Time is running out for Betar Jerusalem until the closing date of the transfer window and the fact that the team is not training and is disabled, could torpedo the possibility of strengthening.
If this is the case, it seems that Drapic and Barda will have to make do with the return of Mateosino to the team and the reintegration of Antoine Conte, who insists on returning to Israel and fulfilling his contract at Betar until the end of the season.
