NBA roundup: Pistons dripping late Lakers, upset pull-ups

Blake Griffin scored 23 points and the Detroit Pistons host kept the Los Angeles Lakers scoreless for nearly seven minutes in the fourth quarter as they pulled away to a 107-92 victory Thursday.

For the Lakers, who played without Anthony Davis (quad), it marked their season low in scoring and their first time losing games in a row this season. The Lakers lost their second straight road game after going 10-0 to start the season.

Wayne Ellington had 20 points, including six points-3, while Mason Plumlee gave up 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jerami Grant and Derrick Rose added 14 points each for Detroit.

LeBron James had 22 points but just two after half-time for the Lakers. He also added 10 assists and seven rebounds. Kyle Kuzma had 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Talen Horton-Tucker put 13 points off the bench.

Los Angeles Clippers 109 – Miami Heat 105

Nicholas Batum scored 18 points, helping the Los Angeles rally past the Miami host for his eighth win in nine games.

The Clippers also got 17 points from Lou Williams and 16 points each from Marcus Morris Sr. and Reggie Jackson. Morris scored 10 of his points in the fourth quarter. Terance Mann had 12 points for Los Angeles, while Serge Ibaka added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Tyler Herro, in his first game off the injured list, led Miami with 19 points and added 10 rebounds and five assists. Gabe Vincent shook in 18 points for the Heat, who also scored 16 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists from Bam Adebayo. Miami lost its fifth straight game, the longest active slip in the NBA.

Houston Rockets 104 – Portland Trail Blazers 101

Victor Oladipo scored 25 points, Christian Wood added a double and Houston missed an early deficit of 20 points in defeating Portland.

Oladipo entered a driving position with 26.2 seconds left to give Houston a three-point lead, which sealed the fourth consecutive victory with free throws from Wood and Eric Gordon down the field. Wood returned from a three-game injured hiatus and paid 22 points with 12 rebounds.

Portland hit 17 of 41 3-point attempts but failed to force extra time when Anfernee Simons missed a controversial shot at the kite. Simons hit 4 of 9 from long range and got 14 off the bench, adding to Damian Lillard’s scoring (five points-3, 30 points) and Gary Trent Jr. (seven points-3, 21 points).

Phoenix Suns 114 – Heroes of the Golden State 93

Mikal Bridges led seven Phoenix players in double figures with 20 points as the Suns thrashed three games losing streak with a win over a Golden State goal.

On a night when both teams played for the second time in two days, the Suns showed better depth, including a 12-point, 13-rebound double-off off the bench by Frank Kaminsky .

Stephen Curry of the Warriors led all players with 27 points, but Golden State got just two more players into double figures while watching the end of a two-game winning streak.
