Dustin Johnson, Sei Young Kim and Bernhard Langer have been selected as the 2020 players of the year on their tours with the American Golf Writers Association.
Johnson won the PGA Tour honor thanks to his four tour winners in 2020, including the Masters Championship. The world won No. 1 93.6% of the GWAA vote.
“It is a great honor to be re-voted Golf Writers Association Player of the Year,” said Johnson, who won the award in 2016. “I really appreciate my friends in the media and the recognition of my achievement. This means a lot to me. ”
Kim won her first GWAA POY award, earning 69% of the vote. South Korea, who was also an established player earned the points at the LPGA Tour, her first major last year at the KPMG Women’s PGA Tournament. She followed that up with a victory at the Pelican Women’s Championship.
“I am very excited and honored to receive such an important award,” Kim said. “It’s an amazing feeling to be recognized for my efforts and commitment.”
Langer won the PGA Tournament title for the sixth time
The 63-year-old had one win and 12 top-10 finishes in 15 starts. He also led the money list to Ernie Els ’edge for the writers’ POY honor. Langer received 41% of the vote to 35.6% for Els.
“It is a great honor and recognition to be named GWAA 2020 Senior Player of the Year,” said Langer. “When trade / game experts, like the Golf Writers, vote for you, it means a lot more and I’m delighted to receive this special award again.”
