Apple today released the third RC version of the upcoming macOS Big Sur 11.2 update to developers for testing purposes, with the new update coming a week after the second RC and more than two months after the first macOS Big Sur release.

Developers can download the updated macOS Big Sur 11.2 solution candidate using the software update method in the system settings after installing the correct profile from Apple Developer Center.
Today ‘s update may address vulnerabilities that could allow a local user to access basic benefits on macOS. It’s unclear if there’s a solution to the issue in the beta, but there’s speculation that vulnerability is the reason why Apple has yet to release macOS Big Sur 11.2.
MacOS Big Sur 11.2 removes a feature that allows Apple apps to bypass third-party firewalls, security devices, and VPN apps. MacOS Big Sur 11 included ContentFilterExclusionList that allowed Apple apps like the App Store, Maps, iCloud, and more to bypass firewalls and VPN apps installed by users. These apps were unable to filter or filter traffic for some built-in Apple apps. This function has been removed in macOS Big Sur 11.2.
When macOS Big Sur 11.2 sees a release, Apple apps will be compatible with VPN apps and will not be able to bypass firewalls and other security devices.
According to Apple’s release notes, the update also improves Bluetooth reliability and includes multiple bug fixes.

– External displays can show a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter
– Edits to Apple ProRAW photos may not be saved in the Photos app
– iCloud Drive may turn off after disabling the iCloud Drive Desktop & Documents Folders option
– System Preferences may not resolve when you enter your admin password
– The Emoji & Symbols pool may not show a global key when pressed
The update addresses a bug that may cause external displays to show a black screen when connected to a M1 Mac mini using an HDMI to DVI converter, and fixes issue that led to edits to Apple ProRaw photos in the Photos app without saving. It also includes solutions for iCloud Drive, System Preferences, and more.
