Bojan Krkic, Victor Valdes, Neymar and Claudio Bravo (Reuters)
In recent years Barcelona have sold quite a few players who have chosen to leave the team, and while some of them are making a dent, not all of them have licked honey at their new destination. The English ‘Sun’ recalled the notable cases of stars who chose to leave the Catalans, and their careers did not go anywhere better. Just before Leo Messi decides his future in the team, it is worth paying attention to the following cases.
Neymar – To Paris Saint-Germain in 2017
This is of course the most prominent and memorable case in the entire list. In the case of the Brazilian, he chose to leave because he wanted to be the star of the team and not be in the shadow of Leo Messi, but it did not quite work for him with the French, who have not yet managed to win the Champions League. Although the extremist has recently shown good ability, his time in France has been marked by many injuries, and even his desire to return to the ex in 2019, he has publicly stated.

Claudio Bravo – to Manchester City in 2016
The goalkeeper has made 75 appearances in his three seasons at Barcelona, but in his final year in light of the increase in the ability of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, he sat mostly on the bench and therefore chose to team up with Pep Guardiola. At the same time, since his debut with the Blues, he has received quite a few reviews, and this season he joined Betis with the aim of rebuilding his career.

Boyan Krkic – to Rome in 2011
He was marked as Barcelona’s next prodigy and even broke Leo Messi’s record as the youngest player in the team’s history to play in the league (later broken by Anso Patti), but after being sidelined due to the good ability of David Villa, Pedro and the Flea, preferred to leave and move to Italy. After the failing period in Rome he also moved to Milan and Ajax and did not break out, when later teams like Stoke City picked him up, and today he is only in the MLS.

Victor Valdes – For Manchester United in January 2015
Another former Barcelona goalkeeper, so far the best in the team’s history, at least when it comes to titles. The Spaniard has made 535 appearances past the Catalans and won 6 championships and 3 Champions League titles, but when his contract expired after a serious injury in 2014, he chose to reach the Red Devils, for whom he played only twice before moving on loan to Standard Liege.

Deco – to Chelsea in 2008
The Portuguese was one of the key figures of the team in the mid-2000s, and even won the title of player of the season in 2004/05. He helped the team win the Champions League one season later, but since moving to the Blues for £ 8million, everything fell apart for him, especially after then-coach Filipe Scolari was sacked, and the player’s fitness dropped significantly, as did the minutes and credit he received in London.
